Silicon Knights gets free publicity (again !) .... Denis Dyack smiles.
"I am not saying that same doesnt happen from Sonys fanboys, but NEVER on this level, NEVER! "
Take a look at the user reviews for Gears 2. Av 4.4 based on 281 votes. Not a bad number of reviews for a games still 2 weeks away from release.
.... but yeah, Sonys fanboys NEVER stoop this low !
I am about 3/4 through this game and really like the experience.
The repetitive nature of the missions would become a grind for me if I tried to play it for hours on end, so I try to restrict it to 1 assassination per sitting and this keeps it fresh.
For a first up attempt it deserves to be praised, and the potential to make improvements for a sequal is huge.
The only way to play this game is split screen co-op. I had fun doing it this way, but with the AI it sucked.
Weapons upgrade is not bad, and at least it encourages a 2nd play through.
Good review. In my opinion it is still the best game on the 360.
I can't say that I have ever been as interested in a games story as I was in this game.
I didn't care about the lack of multi-player, but the end "boss" could have been a bit harder.
I didn't think the graphics were quite as bad as you said, but can't disagree with the overall score.
I played the game through once and have not been interested in playing it through again.
I also tried the online multiplayer out, and with all the time-grenades it was just crazy. Mind you, this was when the game first came out, I can't imagine it being that easy to find an online game now that it is 6 months after release
Why are we being so hard ? .... well we also have an opinion, and as there is a comments section available to respond to the review, then I assume that this is what it is for.
I actually get the feeling that this USER wants comments to be left, whether they be in agreeance or not.
Did you review the demo or the full game ? ... because the way you have written the review it sounds like you have just played the demo.
Like you, I had high hopes for this game and like you I feel a little let down by the end result, but I also feel that it is significantly better than a 5, but only if you can play it with a real person not the AI.
I have nearly played the game through with my 2 sons and we are having a lot of fun doing it.
The best part of the game is the weapon upgrade system. I saved up my money after the first couple of missions and found that I was struggling to kill guys quickly enough; bu...
I have read most of your reviews and agree with your summary and score on nearly all of them, but I feel you are being a bit harsh in your review of this game.
Whilst I will agree that it is not the best Xbox360 game out there on the market, it is certainly not the worst you can play.
Sometimes you just want to switch your brain off and have some fun blasting stuff, so I enjoyed the game for what it was (and I suspect what it set out to be) a mindless shooter.
I agree tha...
Such a simple game, yet so damn addictive.
Some levels you fly through in seconds and yet other have taken me over an hour.
I love it.
I got a racing wheel specifically for this game, as I found the controller to awkward to use (although interestingly I still prefer it when playing PGR).
For a racing simulator I think you would be hard pressed to argue that it could be any better. The only thing that could be added to marginally improve it is weather effects.
For me, it is repetition that makes the game a bit boring, In short bursts it is great, but after a couple of hours of racing and having only gone up 1 le...
This game really seems to divide people; some seem to love it whilst others don't.
I played the demo and loved it, but was really disappointed with the full game.
Everything you said I agree with, but would also add to the list of negatives the aiming system when firing or throwing a weapon. The fact that your feet are fixed to a spot when trying to shoot is just ridiculous; it just makes for overly hard gameplay.
That 1st boss you fight, the Indian guy, Carlito ???? ... ...
You are right in saying that there was a lot of hate for this game, and based on that hate I felt the need to try the demo (I realise this is warped logic). The demo was ok, not brilliant, but enough to make me want to buy the game.
What surprised me was not that I enjoyed the game, but the fact that the more I played the more I became addicted to it.
I put more hours into this game than I have into any other game on the 360.
In the end I had to force myself to stop playi...
